You and Your Electric Utility Working Together

This research study is being conducted in partnership with Duke Energy,
the U.S. Department of Energy, and your homebuilder or leasing agency
to learn how coordinated management of your household electric use can help
you lower your bills and help your utility provide you with better electrical service.
The two-year study will include up to 1,000 homes served by Duke Energy.

Optimize Your Energy... and Your Savings
Save Energy... Save $
Save money with the adjustment of your energy-using devices to optimize operation around favorable electricity rates and utility programs. Additionally, by enrolling in the Duke Energy smart thermostat program, you'll receive a $75 bill credit, plus a $25 bill credit each year you participate.
Improve the Energy Grid
Your participation in this study will help utilities identify more ways
to cleanly and efficiently serve their customers’ energy needs. Participation will take place over 24 months and will shed light on how the use of electrical appliances and equipment in homes impacts the electric “grid" and will shift energy use to occur when more clean renewable clean energy is available.
You're Always in Control
You will always maintain control of your energy using devices at
all times and can adjust your settings at any time based on your preferences. Data collected from this study will be made anonymous so your personal information will remain confidential
among the research team. Because of the smart equipment in your home, you may be contacted by Duke Energy or the study team during the study, with offers to participate in new Duke Energy programs, products, or services.
